My love for pigeons was cultivated by my father Jannie Deetlefs who started with racing pigeons when I was 10 years old.   To this day, I still rate him as the smartest pigeon fancier I have ever known. 
In 2010, after South African pigeons once again did very badly at the Million Dollar Pigeon Race, I came up with an idea to open a similar loft for mainly South African pigeons where we race at the best time  for the South African pigeons.  I believed that our pigeons would be able to hold their own against our overseas counterparts.

At Dinokeng Lofts we strive to bring every pigeon to its peak condition, to be able to do its best for its owner. All pigeons get the same treatment.  We allow absolutely no irregularities in the loft.  Our goal is to take as many pigeons to the final with a very high percentage back in race time.
Dinokeng trains pigeons to perform. We strive to make every season a very pleasant experience for all our entrants. A race must be an away flight where the genetically best pigeons emerge.
